Raynham Stables Riding School
Raynham Stables is dedicated to developing safe, well-rounded riders. We offer lessons to riders ages 6+ to adults and all levels, from non-riders to advanced show riders. Our dedicated instructors and talented, well-trained school horses can help you meet your riding goals.
Riders begin with a solid foundation on the flat, learning how to walk, trot, canter, and ride basic school figures. Once their instructor feels they are capable, riders have the option to add jumping lessons (if so, their lessons will alternate between dressage and jumping). As riders continue to progress, they have the opportunity to part-board or lease one of our lovely school horses, and participate in our competition program.
Lindsay Mahon, EC Coach Specialist (Eventing) & Nicole Maclellan, EC Competition Coach, are our head coaches, and all of our instructors are EC certified and licensed coaches.

2026/2027 Lesson Program Details
Beginning this September, we will move from seasonal lesson sessions to a continuous annual schedule, created each August for the upcoming September-to-June riding year. We will continue to offer more flexible scheduling during the busy summer months of July and August. Rather than registering and submitting your availability for each session, each student will receive a reserved weekly lesson time that continues throughout the year.
More than 90% of our students already ride year-round, so this change better reflects how our riders use the program and makes registration considerably simpler. We believe this new format will provide much greater consistency and advance notice while eliminating the repeated paperwork that comes with registering for multiple sessions each year.
How monthly lesson blocks work
September includes three scheduled lesson weeks and will be billed at the three-week rate. All other monthly lesson blocks include four scheduled lesson weeks.
To accommodate scheduled closures for holidays and schooling shows, a lesson block may begin in one calendar month and end in the next. The blue and yellow shading on the annual calendar shows where each monthly lesson block begins and ends.
Registration and deposit
To register, riders will pay September’s three-week lesson fees plus a last-month lesson deposit equal to one month’s regular lesson fees.
Although two payments are due in September, the total is less than what you would normally pay upfront for one of our 8- to 16-week sessions. Following September, lesson fees will be billed monthly through recurring billing.
The deposit secures your place in the continuing lesson program. When you provide the required 30 days’ notice to discontinue, the deposit will be applied to your final month’s lesson fees. With less than 30 days’ notice, you will forfeit your deposit.
If you discontinue classes and later wish to return
Please note, riding is a year-round sport for both progression and safety. Priority for lesson times will go to those planning to ride year-round. Because our lesson program is currently full and we maintain a waitlist, discontinuing lessons releases your reserved place so we can offer it to another student. If you later wish to return, re-enrolment will be subject to availability, and you may need to join the waitlist until a suitable opening becomes available.

Lesson Types
All riders are expected to arrive 3o minutes before the start of their lesson to groom and saddle their horse. Riders should also plan for an additional 30 minutes after the lesson to properly cool out, groom/bathe their horse, clean their tack and tidy up their grooming area.
- Private Lessons : 1 rider, 30 min. Recommended for new riders or advanced/competition riders. Once approved, riders should mount 15 minutes before the start of their lesson time to warm up. Want more details on private lessons? Check out our blog post!
- Semi-Private Lessons: 2 riders, 50 min. Recommended for beginner or advanced riders.
- Group Lessons: 4 - 5 riders, 50 min. Recommended for advanced beginner and above level riders. Riders will be grouped based on age and ability. We always work to ensure our riders are continually progressing while still ensuring safety & fun!

Payment Details:
- Single lessons are subject to availability and are $5 more per class than the package rate.
- Multi-Lesson Discount - $5.00/off per lesson for siblings or riders taking multiple lessons per week.
- Monthly packages will be billed on a recurring basis, and payment is due by the first of the month.
- Those enrolled in monthly lessons need to have a credit card on file or a recurring e-transfer set up for the 1st of the month.
- We accept cash, cheque, or e-Transfer. Our credit card processing fee is waived for those who put a credit card on file.
- Lessons are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- 30 days' notice is required if discontinuing lessons.
Inclement Weather Cancellations:
Lessons will be cancelled in the event of freezing rain, heavy snow, or extreme cold (below -12c before the wind chill) so that no one is driving in unsafe conditions. We will assist students in rescheduling inclement weather cancellations. In addition to any regular openings in the online scheduler, we offer additional make-ups on one Monday and one Sunday a month.
Please note that cancellations will be posted on the blog and in our WhatsApp group ONLY, so please check before heading to the barn. Cancellations will be posted by 8:00 am on weekends and 1:00 pm on weekdays.
